PDO threads are used for ‘non-surgical’ face and neck lifts, as well as facial rejuvenation and wrinkle reducing treatments. This minimally invasive procedure uses dissolvable PDO threads (Polydioxanone), a material used in medicine for many years – mainly in heart surgery.
PDO threads relax muscles and tendons while stimulating the production of new collagen in the skin. Within the body, they can help speed up lymphatic drainage. PDO’s also stimulate the production of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, vital for maintaining youthful looking skin.
An immediate effect can often be seen after treatment, however the results will improve over the course of 2 to 3 months.
Effective in facial lifting and wrinkle removal through self-stimulation of cells. There should be minimum interruption in daily life, and no concerns about removal as the threads will be fully dissolved in the body after 2 to 6 months. The product is biodegradable and biocompatible and the effects of treatment should last approximately 12 to 24 months depending on treatment.
Procedure
Local anaesthetic is applied on to the treatment area. The PDO thread will then be introduced using a cannula or fine-needle into the required area. Different lengths, thickness and textures of threads are used for different indications. The procedure takes around 45-60 minutes depending on what treatment the patient requires and the numbers of threads used. The patient is able to fully resume their everyday routine and social commitments within a few days, although some patients may experience bruising depending on the area being treated and patient reaction. PDO Therapy is a tailor made treatment which can be adjusted to the patients’ requirements at any time. When PDO Therapy is combined with other treatments, even greater results can be achieved.
